French butter dish

The french butter dish is a 19th century invention which keeps butter fresh and soft, without need of a fridge.

The base of the container holds the water, whilst the cup on lid holds the packed in butter. 
Once the cup is placed into the container, the water creates an airtight seal around the butter, keeping oxygen out, keeping it fresh and at a spreadable form.
Butter can be kept for a month as long as water is changed every couple of days.

The three holes down the sides of the cup allow for even closer contact of the water and butter, whilst also relieving any air pressure when lifting the lid.
