Romanian Jug

Romanian Jug

Origin Early 1900's, Romania

This jug would have once been used for collecting water or other liquids from larger vats and heated straight over a fire, made evident by the burn marks on the base, and the glazed inside to ensure the liquid doesn’t escape whilst heating.

Use now as a utensil holder or vase.

Ceramics is still practised in Romania as a traditional craftsmanship, with skills passed through generations of family.
