Salt glaze French confit pot

Salt glaze French confit pot

Origin 1800's, France

These small Confit pots (preserving pots) were made in the 19th century to preserve food, pre-fridges. They are made of stoneware with thick walls and have lips on the top to allow them to be covered with fabric and string. The smaller confit pots resemble mugs as they only need one handle to carry when this small, rather then the 2 handle on most larger pots.

Condition This item is very old and the glaze is worn down in parts, but no major chips or cracks.
