Origin Ger, Normandy, France
This 19th century sandstone vessel from Ger would have held Calvados, a French cider.
Ger was the centre for pottery in Normandy at this time, these bottles would have been cheap and easy to make on the wheel. Due to high demand, they were churned out quickly, with little attention given to aesthetics or uniformity. Hence why each bottle differs in size, shape and tone.
This is an incredibly beautiful and rustic item that could be used as a stand alone ornamental pieces, or a vase.
