Chinese Ginger pots

Chinese Ginger pots

from 40.00

Origin China, Late 1800’s

These ginger pots are hard to date as they were very popular between 1600 - 1800's, being shipped all over the world as exotic decorative items. They were first used as utilitarian spice pots, but were named ginger pots as this is what they usually contained when shipped to Europe.

These pots originally had lids, but can very rarely be found with it intact as they were unglazed and broke easily. Making the cream pot with lid a rare find.

Condition These are antique items with decades of ware, but with no major chips or cracks.
