Corinthian Aryballos

£310.00

A 4-2nd Century BC Etruscan-Corinthian Aryballos.

Aryballos were used widely to carry and store scented oils for use as perfume. Many have been excavated from gymnasiums and baths, suggesting they were often used by athletes and after bathing.

Ceramic vessels as these were exported on mass from Corinthian Greece and replicated by the Etruscans.

This piece was part of a museum collection and has had a museum-grade restoration to the rim.
