These incredible green jars were used to store olives once they had been picked. The green colour is a result of oxidisation of the iron content in the glaze, as these were utilitarian objects rather than decorative, the glaze was applied quickly and without much attention, which has created lovely dripping and variation in glaze thickness. They are very unique and impressive pieces.
