This small green jar would have been used to store olives. The green colour is a result of oxidisation of the iron content in the glaze, as these were utilitarian objects rather than decorative, the glaze was applied with quickly and without much attention, which has created lovely dripping and variation in glaze thickness. This piece is showing a lot of ware, with one handle chipped and some glaze coming off.
