This green/black jar would have been used to store olives throughout the early 1900’s

The variation of colour on these jars are a result of oxidisation of the iron content in the glaze, as these were utilitarian objects rather than decorative, the glaze was applied quickly and without much attention, which has created lovely dripping and variation in glaze thickness. This piece is old and shows significant ware.
