This incredible large green jars were used to store olives once they had been picked. The green colour is a result of oxidisation of the iron content in the glaze, as these were utilitarian objects rather than decorative, the glaze was applied quickly and without much attention, creating a lovely dripping and variation in glaze thickness. They are very unique and impressive pieces.
