An 800-year-old vessel thought to be used to store and transport Mercury from China around the world for medical purposes and possibly for gold production. Crates of these vessels are found in shipwrecks, perfectly preserved for centuries at the bottom of the ocean.
At a time when highly ornate and intricate ceramics was the fashion, this was a utilitarian item with no thought given to its aesthetics. Traces of it’s time undersea can be seen fossilised into the surface. This antique vessel is an incredible piece of history.
