Berber medicine pot

Berber medicine pot

£80.00

Origin Morocco

This vessel was made and used by a Berber tribe to hold medicine. The natural remedies would get caught in the bottom whilst the liquid at the top could be drunk. The small handles were used to hang the bottle from the tents, and the lip on the top would allow a small piece of fabric to be tied around the top to protect it from dust and bugs.

Each vessel has a pattern painted on to differentiate the contents. These beautiful objects are so practical in their design and natural in material and build.

This would make a lovely decorative object. This one does not stand on its own, so should either rest on its side as pictured, be hung, or could be put on a stand.
